A degree and career as a licensed architect led Kristi Zatyko to her roots, exploring the world of art, building on use of recycled materials to create inspiring works of art.
Kristi Zatyko uses recycled materials to build monoprints and collage which will be on exhibit. Art Gallery Pure is proud to feature this artist's work and represent her artwork which assists with the sustainability of our planet.
“It all started at a young age, with the Town Dump. It wasn’t like today’s recycling centers. There were piles of discards ready for the taking. The possibilities were endless. My parents taught me furniture refinishing, power tool usage, sewing and how to fix almost anything. Soon I was combining odd elements from the dump to make humorous or philosophical statements.
My first painting, created at the age of 12, was made inside a thrift shop fold out box. It was so satisfying to mold an image from pots of color, which inspired me to begin working with traditional canvas.
An aptitude for science and math, combined with an artistic perspective, led to a degree and career as a licensed architect.
These influences, along with experiences with family and travel, can be seen in my art. Some works are traditional and others combine materials in new ways. " Kristi Zatyko, Artist
